Taku Fisheries sits on the historic docks of Juneau, Alaska where every year we welcome visitors from around the world to learn about our fishing process. We specialize only in the finest wild-caught seafood Alaska has to offer: Salmon, Halibut, Cod, Crab, Shrimp, and premium cuts from our in-house Smokehouse. 

Every morning, for the past four decades, our fleet of specialized vessels, also known as Tenders, head out into the Gastineau Channel and as far as the North Pacific. With the sole purpose of bringing back the daily wild catch straight to our dock. 

Think of a Tender like a shuttle service. While independent fishing boats spend days (sometimes weeks) out at sea reeling in wild salmon and halibut, they only have so much space to store their catch.  

Instead of making the long trip back to shore every time, these boats call in one of our Tenders which meets them right on the water, transfers the catch, and runs it back to our docks in Juneau—still cold, fresh, and handled with care. 

This system keeps our supply chain tight and our seafood incredibly fresh. No long delays, no cross-country trucking—just ocean to dock, dock to plate. 

50 Feet From The Sea To Processing

Our dock is just 50 feet away from our processing plant. That means when our Tender pulls in, the fish goes directly from the boat to our facility, where it’s immediately cleaned, cut, and flash-frozen, often within just a few hours of being caught. 

Our model and premium location ensures:

  • Maximum freshness 
  • No compromise on quality 

The result is a level of freshness that can't be found anywhere else, and a supply chain that supports a generational community of fishermen, processors, and caretakers of the sea.
