Halibut cheeks are a true Alaskan delicacy. Each halibut yields only two cheeks, and the muscle works constantly during the fish's life, producing flesh that is denser and silkier than the fillet, with a hint more sweetness. Cheeks are prized in fine dining for good reason, and they are typically the first cut to sell out.

Federal Express

 

We ship all of our perishable products with Federal Express Mon - Wed for Tue - Fri deliveries.  Federal Express must have a physical address for delivery.  If you are not at home upon delivery Federal Express drivers will leave your package at the door except for apartments.  Refreeze or refrigerate your seafood immediately upon delivery.

 

Our perishable products are shipped frozen and packed in insulated shipping boxes with 1-2 gel ice packs.  The gel ice maintains the product's integrity and quality even if some thawing occurs in the process of shipping.

 

We ship all of our non-perishable products with USPS Flat Rate Shipping Mon - Fri.  Delivery typically takes 3-5 business days. 

 

During the hotter summer months all orders containing a hot-smoke fillet or cold-smoke fillet must ship overnight.

We offer free shipping on orders over $199 excluding Alaska and Hawaii and will ship 2 day Express. For orders shipping to Alaska and Hawaii over $199 shipping is $45 flat. 

 

For orders under $199 shipping is $28.99 for flat rate shipping excluding Alaska and Hawaii. For orders shipping to Alaska and Hawaii under $199 shipping is $65 flat rate. 

 

Shipping rates are for a single address.  If an order is places for multiple delivery addresses shipping will be calculated based on the order value being delivered to each address.

About Halibut Cheeks

Halibut cheeks are a true delicacy. Each halibut yields only two of them, and the muscle works constantly during the fish's life, producing flesh that is denser and silkier than the fillet, with a hint more sweetness. Cheeks are prized in fine dining for good reason, and they are typically the first cut to sell out. Treat them gently: a quick sear in butter, a brush of olive oil under a broiler, or a fast pan-fry with garlic and citrus. They cook in minutes.

Pacific Halibut

Pacific Halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis) is the largest flatfish in the world. Adult fish average 20 to 100+ pounds, with records over 500 pounds. They live on the cold continental shelf of the North Pacific, mostly between 100 and 900 feet deep, where they can live 25 years or longer. Halibut are born with one eye on each side of their body. As they mature, the left eye migrates over to the right, and they spend the rest of their life lying flat on the seabed with both eyes facing up.

The Alaska fishery is managed under the International Pacific Halibut Commission, with strict quotas, individual fishing rights, and ongoing stock assessment. Every fish we sell is longline-caught using baited hooks set along the seabed. Each halibut is brought aboard one at a time and checked individually for quality. Bycatch is minimal.

All Taku Fisheries seafood is wild-caught in Alaska. We work with independent Alaskan fishermen who bring daily catch directly to our Juneau dock, where it's processed in-house at our waterfront facility within hours of being landed.

All fresh and frozen products ship 1-2 days via FedEx in an insulated layer with one to two gel ice packs rated for 48 hours. Shipping materials are recyclable. Choose your shipping date at checkout when you are available to accept the package.

Always wild-caught. We do not sell farmed seafood. Every salmon, halibut, cod, crab, and shrimp we ship is harvested from the pristine waters of Alaska.

Our flash-frozen products can be stored in the freezer for up to 12 months without losing quality. Once thawed, use within 2-3 days and keep refrigerated.

Yes. At checkout you can select the date you would like your order to ship. We recommend picking a date when you know you'll be home to accept the package.
