Common questions about Taku Fisheries, our seafood, and shipping.
All Taku Fisheries seafood is wild-caught in Alaska. We work with independent Alaskan fishermen who deliver their daily catch directly to our Juneau dock, where it's processed in-house at our waterfront facility within hours.
All fresh and frozen products ship 1-2 days via FedEx in an insulated layer with gel ice packs rated for 48 hours. Shipping materials are recyclable. Choose your preferred shipping date at checkout.
Always wild-caught. We do not sell farmed seafood. Every salmon, halibut, cod, crab, and shrimp we ship is harvested from the pristine waters of Alaska.
Flash-frozen products can be stored in the freezer up to 12 months without quality loss. Once thawed, use within 2-3 days and keep refrigerated.
Yes. We follow strict Alaskan sustainability practices — responsible harvesting, minimal waste, and a commitment to keeping wild seafood wild for generations.
At checkout you can select the date you would like your order to arrive. Pick a date when you'll be home to accept the package. We will try to have the package arrive on that date.
Hot smoked salmon is fully cooked over alder wood — firm, flaky, and ready to eat. Cold smoked (Nova-style lox) is cured at a lower temperature, keeping a silky, delicate texture ideal for bagels and boards.

Our salmon is versatile — bake, grill, pan-sear, or broil. For best flavor, cook to an internal temperature of 125-130°F for a moist, flaky finish.
Thaw overnight in the refrigerator for best results. For quicker thawing, place the sealed package under cold running water for 30-60 minutes.
Keep refrigerated at 32-38°F and use within 2-3 days of delivery. For longer storage, freeze in the original vacuum-sealed packaging.
If the fish is warm to the touch contact us and we will help you resolve the issue. If your seafood is cold and still partly frozen either refreeze it or place it in the fridge and eat it within 3 days.
